Panos Chicanos Exhibition

Don Pank

On September 14, Antiek Tattoo Gallery presented Love letters, Paños Chicanos. A solo show by talented artist Don Pank. The exhibition offered a rare glimpse into the powerful and fascinating work of Don Pank, an artist deeply rooted in Chicano culture. Paños pen or pencil drawings on fabric, a form of prison artwork made in the Southwest United States created primarily by pintos, or Chicanos who are or have been incarcerated.

Each hand-drawn bandana is unique, showcasing the skill of this intriguing artist. The detailed drawings narrate the lives and challenges of the Chicano community reflecting themes such as migration, cultural belonging, and social justice and inviting visitors to actively engage and connect their own experiences and emotions with the artwork. Complementary audiovisual elements offer deep insights into the artist's background and sources of inspiration.

Don Pank says about his work: "My art is a window into the soul of the community. Each bandana is a message of strength and hope, woven into the story of our struggle and our dreams.”

We sincerely thank everyone who joined us for exhibition, a successfull event, brimming with joy and enthusiasm, made possible by our loyal friends and new supporters who helped create an unforgettable experience.
