A Night of Tattoo Art at the Van Gogh Museum

The partnership with the Van Gogh Museum during Museumnacht was a remarkable tribute to art and creativity, uniting aficionados of fine art with modern tattoo culture. Drawing inspiration from Van Gogh's renowned masterpieces, live tattooing sessions on paper illustrated the harmonious fusion of traditional artistry and contemporary tattoo design. Anibal Fernandez, the shop owner, showcased ten paintings alongside his La Quinella book in proximity to Van Gogh's self-portraits.

The entire Antiek team contributed to an engaging installation by painting a body suit tattoo on a two-meter tall representation of Van Gogh, honoring his legacy while highlighting the distinctive essence of Antiek Tattoo, the last residence of Rembrandt van Rijn, known for its rich history as both an antique shop and a center for innovative artistry.

For Museumnacht, Anibal designed Van Gogh-inspired flash tattoos, which were printed as temporary tattoos that garnered significant attention, leading to long queues throughout the night. The event also included interactive exhibits where attendees could create their own body suit designs on a Van Gogh model, with the painting table bustling with activity all evening. The vibrant atmosphere allowed guests to explore the connections between classical art history and contemporary creative expressions.

With its dynamic programming, the night provided an unforgettable experience of artistic exploration and cultural exchange. "Antiek Meets Van Gogh" encapsulated the essence of Museumnacht, showcasing Amsterdam as a city where the past and present of art continuously inspire one another.
