July 5 - September 5 I Xilo Interventions by Mariano Castiglioni

Antiek Tattoo Art Gallery is pleased to present Woodcut Interventions: Colors and Shapes Revealed, an exhibition by artist Mariano Castiglioni that explores the vibrant intersection of woodcut and tattoo aesthetics, from Japanese bodysuit immersions to compositions featuring icons of traditional American tattooing.

Mariano Castiglioni intervenes various woodcuts, reimagining them as spaces for a rich exploration of color and form. Acrylics, markers, watercolors, and collage engage in dialogue with the engraved prints, revealing new visual dimensions suggested by the images themselves.

The exhibition focuses on the dynamics of Japanese bodysuit immersions and smaller pieces, where the implicit forms of the body and icons of traditional American tattooing become catalysts for an explosion of color and a reinterpretation of the original lines. Each intervention is an act of resignification, guided by the inherent suggestiveness of the forms of each engraved print.

"My intention is to harness the visual power of tattooing and see how its colors and movement manifest in the woodcut, activating latent forms and revealing a new palette and dynamic in each piece," explains Mariano Castiglioni.

Xylography Interventions: Colors and Forms Revealed invites us to contemplate the beauty of transformation, where the structure of the woodcut merges with the freedom of color and formal reinterpretation, revealing a stimulating new aesthetic vision born of visual suggestion.

The exhibition will be open from July 5 to September 5 at Gallery Antiek Tatoo.
